oh, hello there

In order to avoid packing my things to leave PA tomorrow, I thought I'd blog for the first time in...ages.

2012? Amazing. It feels like the longest and shortest year in a long time, and I'm both sad to see it go and excited to see what 2013 holds for me. Or rather, what I'll make of 2013.

I do know that I'll be spending a lot of quality time with this guy:

Hello, 2012

I rang in the New Year coughing and sneezing and aching. Oops. Guess all that travel and school stress caught up with me. The trip home was worth it.

Today I've been laying low and watching Netflix. But really all I want in the world is You've Got Mail. I'm pretty sure Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan would cure me.

Right? Right.

on the eve of a New Year

Since I wasn't home for Christmas this year, I've put all my holiday energy into a New Years party that Kristy and I are throwing tonight. I've been cutting paper snowflakes for two weeks, and spent a good part of yesterday making chocolate covered pretzels.

2010 was a good year, don't get me wrong, but I hope 2011 is even better. I have a really good feeling about it, and I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure it's great. Every year has it's ups and downs, but right now I'm focusing on the positive (and silly) things that happened in the last 12 months.

Things I did in 2010:
-started a new job
-survived a serious relationship
-waxed my eyebrows for the first time
-read a ton of books
-played a lot of flag football
-quit that new job because I was...
-accepted to grad schools!
-drove across the country with my dad
-started grad school in Salt Lake City
-made a lot of new friends (in Philly and SLC)
-went snow tubing for the first time (that was yesterday)
-went to a drive in movie for the first time
-bought my first car
-visited friends in DC, NYC, and Boston
-saw a good friend get married
-turned down the seemingly "right" choice to do what was right for me. Twice.
-went on my first solo road trip to Boston
-took more risks than I've ever taken before...and most of them paid off

Adios 2010, hello 2011!
