Though I hesitate to even use the word 'blogger' since it has so many different connotations than the one I actually mean - which is that I have a blog. That I update sometimes. And that people read sometimes (I see you, readers on the East Coast, I see you.)

I keep thinking I'll blog and then I get distracted with other things...like working out or cooking or D (who I haven't really talked about but who is becoming a huge time suck, in a really good way) or school. And the truth is, there should really be more school.

So this is a post about how I haven't been posting and I want to, I really do. Because I've been having all these THOUGHTS and FEELINGS and what better way to digest them than by writing? Hopefully once this crazy week (and the next crazy week) end I'll have some time to really sit down and write, but until then you loyal readers (all 12 of you) might be stuck with silly mini posts.

I was going to write a post tonight, but my head hurts. And I feel icky. And I just want to lay in bed and have my mom put her hand on my forehead.

But. She is across the country. Asleep.

So I'll have to settle for yoga breathing and acupressure. And probably advil PM. 

I'm always looking for new music, and I have a few friends who reliably provide great suggestions. This one came from Julie, and I absolutely love it!

Beautiful voice, beautiful instrumentals, beautiful lyrics. The rest of the EP is great as well.

1. Vanilla Protein Powder will turn your green smoothie beige. Lesson learned.
2. The majority of people act for themselves, even when they say they're acting for others. I include myself in this.
3. If you really need a response to an email, send it with a read receipt request, high priority, and copy their boss ;)
4. Declawing a cat removes the last bone from it's toes, which is why it's referred to as amputation.
5. I need a lot more verbal validation than I thought I did.
6. Traditional pizza ovens operate at between 800 and 900 degrees, cooking the pizza in a matter of minutes. Thank you, TV at the gym tuned to some talk show.
7. With enough time, I can do anything (more on this later)

So, I know this is sort of a break up song, but I love it! (Aren't some of the best songs break up/angry songs?) I mean, who didn't see this coming? I adore Katy Perry.

Last night we were on the couch watching Battlestar Galactica (note: this could basically describe any weekday night) after dinner, when this happened...

D: Do you want the comforter?
Me: No, I'm OK.
A minute or so passes, D gets up and starts fiddling with the thermostat.
Me: What are you doing?
Silence.
Me: Are you turning off the heat to freeze me out so I want the comforter?
D: Maybe.
Me: Why don't you just say you want the comforter? (ed note: because he will never admit to being cold)
I pull the comforter on top of us. D looks pleased as punch.
A few minutes pass before D dramatically throws the comforter off and moves to the other side of the couch, practically panting.

D: It's so hot! I'm dying. 

I told a friend this story and she said that I basically could have switched the roles because it's just the kind of thing I would do. True story?

Was it me, or was this weekend exceptional?

Friday I...
- worked my tail off at the gym (30 minutes of cardio, 30 minutes strength training)
- planned a mini picnic in Memory Grove park (even though by the time we made it there the sun was behind the hill and it was cold)
- browsed Barnes & Noble with D (I love bookstores!)

Saturday I...
- had lunch at Texas Roadhouse
- went on a failed IKEA trip with D (they had nothing we needed...impossible, right?)
- visited at least 3 grocery stores because we can never figure out what we want to eat
- saw fun. with Mel! (such a great show)
- ate a verrrrry late slice of pizza from The Piehole because not much is open at 1am

Sunday I...
- had a delicious Belgian Waffle
- took a non nap (best non nap ever)
- graded a bajillion papers (OK this wasn't really fun but at least I felt productive)
- made fancy grilled cheese and tomato soup for dinner (D learned he likes smoked gouda)
- worked on the puzzle that we've been semi-neglecting for weeks

I don't know what it was about the past few days, but it was a seriously lovely weekend. And I wish it was still going on.

Surely I've written about Eric Hutchinson before...but I'm too lazy to find that entry. I've been listening to him for almost ten years now, since he played the dining hall at GW my freshman year. Several shows (and years) later, he has a new video out and a new album coming out in a couple weeks.

I really love watching an artist grow and come into their own, and I know I'm going to love the new album, if this single is any indication.
